Sir John Sulston
Former Director of the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Hinxton, Cambridge
John Sulston was born in 1942 and is married with two children. He graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1963. He has worked mainly on the nematode, Caenorhabditis elegans, but latterly has been involved with the sequencing of the human genome.
John is a Fellow of the Royal Society, and is an honorary fellow of Pembroke College, Cambridge. He shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2002.
He is currently chair of the Institute of Science Ethics and Innovation at the University of Manchester.
