Plenary meetings
Plenary Meetings
We hold our main meetings in public and try to hold them in different parts of the United Kingdom. Copies of the minutes, pod casts and some papers are available on the website. We aim to make our papers available to the public wherever possible but occasionally some are withheld in line with the Freedom of Information Act.
Minutes from HGC Plenary Meetings are listed in the left-hand tool bar.
The Agenda for Plenary Meetings
Agenda items for plenary meetings can be suggested by HGC Members, the HGC Secretariat, other organisations with a genetics interest and members of the public.
A variety of factors are taken into account when the issues to be discussed at a plenary meeting are chosen. It could be that Members want to discuss Government legislation or guidance on human genetics. Alternatively, they might wish to respond to a report or comments from another organisation with an interest in genetics, whether it is based in the UK or abroad. Occasionally events in the news prompt Members to consider a specific topic at a plenary meeting. Crucially, HGC Members and the HGC Secretariat choose topics which provide an opportunity for a wide range of views to be aired and which also reflect the numerous and complex issues relating to genetics.
