More Genes Direct

More Genes Direct updates the HGC’s 2003 report Genes Direct: Ensuring the effective oversight of genetic tests supplied directly to the public, which was published in 2003.  At the end of the 2003 report, the HGC undertook to monitor and review developments in this rapidly developing field and to hold a workshop to consider progress in the light of responses to the original report.  More Genes Direct contains:

  • Information about legislative and regulatory developments relating to direct genetic tests since the publication of Genes Direct (2003)
  • Information about the growth in commercial, direct genetic testing services
  • A report on the follow-up workshop, held in January 2007, and recommendations emerging from this
