HGC responds to the Discrimination Law Review

The HGC has called on the Government to consider legislating now to prohibit unfair genetic discrimination.

The Commission's recommendation was contained in its response to the Government's Discrimination Law Review Consultation A Framework for Fairness: Proposals for a Single Equality Bill for Great Britain.  The response was discussed at the Commission's September plenary meeting in Durham where Commissioners concluded that a prohibition was necessary to ensure that individuals could take genetic tests and access services without fear of being disadvantaged.

A full copy of the response is available here.
