HGC responds to the MHRA consultation

The HGC has asked the MHRA to consider the regulatory issues surrounding the provision of genetic test direct to the public.

The Commission's recommendation is contained in its response to the MHRA’s consultation on ‘Challenges and Priorities for the next five years’.  The response was discussed at the Commission's September plenary meeting in Durham and the conclusion was that the MHRA should develop an appropriate regulatory framework for the pre-market review of direct genetic tests.  The HGC reponse letter reccomends that the MHRA reconsideres its current position on the regulation of genetic tests direct to the public.

A full copy of the response is available here.
